The role of the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Transition Nurse

Sarah is the first in a new role working across Sussex CCG’s as a Deputy Designated Transition Safeguarding Nurse with a focus on the age group of 13-25 years. Sarah is proactive in promoting transition safeguarding as a specialist area of safeguarding in its own right as adolescents have distinct needs and risks. Sarah believes the understanding of trauma and its impact is a priority in all areas of safeguarding and is key in understanding the individuals lived experience.

Sarah has been a named nurse in the NHS and was the first in Jersey. Sarah Is a registered nurse who practised critical care nursing and this has included both children and adults in this field. Sarah is passionate about trauma informed practice, the think family strategy and safeguarding adolescents. Above all, she believes in supporting the workforce to understand their role in safeguarding young people – and keeping the lived experience at the heart of all we do.
